Lyrics: Christmas at the Burrow

December 25, 2011

CHRISTMAS AT THE BURROW

Words by Moglet, a filk of ‘Day Trip to Bangor’, by Debbie Cook of Fiddler’s Dram.
(You can listen to the song here – the second item in the post.)

Didn’t we have a lovely time last Christmas at the Burrow?
Although it’s quite small, Molly welcomed us all and made us feel like we’re family.
Arthur welcomed us in with a big friendly grin and offered us refreshment:
Some hot Butterbeer filled us all with good cheer as we gathered round.

Didn’t we have a lovely time while decorating the Burrow?
A big Christmas tree, four feet taller than me, and Ginny conjured the decorations.
A gnome that bit Fred got a bump on the head and stuffed into a tutu,
Then stuck on the tree like a Christmas fairy with a dreadful frown.

Didn’t we have a lovely time on Christmas Eve at the Burrow?
With a cosy log fire – all that you could desire – in family, friends and laughter, too.
On the Wizarding Wireless, Miss Warbeck was tireless and warbled on for ages;
Fleur wasn’t impressed and made some kind of jest, which made Molly frown.

Didn’t we have a lovely time on Christmas Day at the Burrow?
Parcels under the tree and a nice cup of tea as we settled down after breakfast, then
Arthur and Molly were ever so jolly and handed out the presents:
It was a big pile so it took quite a while as they passed them round.

Didn’t we have some lovely food on Christmas Day at the Burrow?
With so much to eat Ron got stuck in his seat; George laughed and freed him, then he teased him!
A visit from Scrimgeour and Percy, the whinger, annoyed his sister and brothers;
George, Ginny and Fred flicked food at his head, which made Molly frown.

Oh, didn’t we have a lovely time last Christmas at the Burrow?
Although it’s quite small, Molly welcomed us all and made us feel like we’re family.
Arthur welcomed us in with a big friendly grin and offered us refreshment:
Some hot Butterbeer filled us all with good cheer as we gathered round.
